## What it is and why it exists
Large specifications in DOORS Next can contain thousands of artifacts in many chapters. In the standard module view it is easy to lose orientation: scrolling to a chapter takes time, and there is no compact outline of the whole document.

Module Explorer 2.0 is SmarterProcess's own new version of IBM's Module Explorer sample. It shows the module as a navigable tree with section numbers, keeps it in sync with what you select, and lets you take the outline to Excel.

## Problems it solves
- Losing orientation in long modules with deep chapter structures.
- Slow navigation between chapters by scrolling.
- No quick way to find an artifact by its name, ID or section number.
- No ready-made table of contents for reviews or planning.

## Benefits
- **Orientation:** the whole document as a tree with section numbers, opened to the level you choose.
- **Fast navigation:** one click on a tree row shows the artifact in the module.
- **Search** by name, ID or section number, with the matches shown in their context.
- **Follows your work:** the artifact you select in DOORS Next is highlighted in the tree.
- **Excel outline** formatted for printing and sharing, with chapters that fold.
- **Read only** and safe for every user.

## How to use
1. Open a module. The tree appears automatically.
2. Expand and collapse chapters, or open the whole tree to a chosen level. **Only headings** shows just the chapter structure.
3. Type in **Search** to find artifacts; **Highlight in module** selects the matches.
4. Click a row to show that artifact in the module.
5. Click **Export to Excel** to save the outline.

## Good to know
- The tree can be operated completely with the keyboard.
- After artifacts were added or moved, the Refresh button in the header reads the module again.
